Paper presented at Software Maintenance and Evolution Conference
The COSMOS team at the University of Sannio co-authored a paper that was presented at the 37th International Conference on Software Maintenance and Evolution (ICSME) held virtually on 27 September - 1 October 2021. The paper titled "CI/CD Pipelines Evolution and Restructuring: A Qualitative and Quantitative Study", reports the results of a study combining a qualitative and quantitative evaluation on CI/CD pipeline restructuring actions. The paper describes the work of manually analyzing and coding 615 pipeline configuration change commits to craft a taxonomy of 34 CI/CD pipeline restructuring actions, either improving extra-functional properties or changing the pipeline’s behaviour, and the development of a metric extractor for Travis-CI pipelines, which extracts 16 indicators of how a pipeline evolves.
